Our story

Why a Lubbock plumbing company started leasing water heaters

AAA Plumbing · Heating & Air has worked in and around Lubbock since 2010. Water heaters are the job we get called out to most, and they almost never fail at a convenient moment — it is a cold shower on a Monday, or a wet garage floor the week before Christmas.

The work itself is straightforward. The bill is the problem. A straight replacement of a 40-gallon tank runs $1,800 once you count the unit, the supply lines, the valves, the pan, the labour and hauling the old one away. Plenty of households in Lubbock can cover $100 a month comfortably and cannot put $1,800 on the table in a day.

So we stopped asking them to. The lease keeps the same work, the same parts and the same warranty, and splits the cost into a $200 down payment and $100 a month — 18 months on a gas unit, 19 on electric. At the end of the term the water heater is yours outright. No balloon payment, no fee to take ownership.
